Of course and correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this a move for the benefit of the studio? Their actors can’t promote it and it lets them spread out the content they already have ready to go. It’s not like they’re doing this as some show of support for the strike.

 

Yes. And when theaters make less money this year now, they can blame the strike for it. Fuck the studios.

 

my point was complaining about a movie not being released on time because the guilds are striking for wages just kinds rubs me the wrong way. it's fine. the movie will come out when it comes out. this is more important.

 

I get your point and of course the strike is more important. But I don’t think anyone is complaining about the strikes. It’s about the studio’s decision. Like I am annoyed about it only because the people who have the power to end this by doing the right thing won’t. Its not because I’m mad at the people striking.

It is really unfortunate that such an amazing project from a filmmaker that I love has gotten so caught up in the fuckery from the studio.

Oddly enough for me though, the new release date is on my birthday.

 

The more I think about this, the shittier it is. The studio execs are completely in the wrong of the eyes of the public, their talent, the shareholders to their company, the theatrical business, etc etc etc but this simply is American Corporate greed at its finest. The workers are never allowed to have any leverage over the CEOs ever and therefore, the whole industry needs to be burned to the ground before anyone at the top admits they fucked up and are being unreasonable.

 

It’s so gross

 

But yea "the movies are woke" is the worst thing about Hollywood right now if you were to peep into the worst parts of the internet (corners that get way more engagement than reasonable takes)

Just finished the book. Can’t wait to see this but I’m bummed it got pushed back.

 

Ooh, just started the book. It's simultaneously a bummer and opportune that I now have until March.

 

How’s the book so far?

 

Admittedly, I only got through the first couple chapters so far, but Paul's test of pain comes early and was good! From everything I can tell the lore is very dense. Should be a good test of what I can handle given I've made my way through Lord of the Rings several times.

 

LEGO seems like such an expensive hobby.

 

$162 jeez - hard to justify paying that imo!
