This is exactly what I said to my friends leaving the theater. Just got home from seeing it and it was as extraordinary as I was hoping. What a good time. Thank god for the 2190483290 hours of video games I have played that have themes similar to these films/books because it's made it easier for me to understand and digest than my normal friends who don't play 12 hours of video games a day. A+++++ I'm gonna read the books now.
Yeah I should have been more specific, I play lots of RPGs that have different houses and families in power and emperors and stuff like that. Warring factions and a hierarchy of power. That type of thing. The first one throws so much info at you right away but i was somehow able to keep up with it which surprised me knowing my own ADHD brain so well haha.
After Paul got his worm juice powers, there should’ve been a scene where he saw a potential timeline play out, with a bad ending. Maybe “Toxic” by Britney Spears is playing? Then cut to the present, where Paul says, “let’s try that again.” Basically, what I’m saying is, his worm juice and spice connects us all.
Chiani was in the deserts of Arrakis with Paul when he was researching Shai Halud just before he died.
Crazy to think that the height of Covid was basically 2 and a half years ago already now (like fall 2001-ish right?)
Holy fucking shit. This movie. The wait til my IMAX showing yesterday was unbearable. My friends and I all took a gummy before hand and let me tell you I was having a very intense time lol. From the moment the Harkonen’s touched down from their dropship in the beginning it hit. That scene where they were fighting underneath the spice tank/harvester was fucking insane. Legitimately very upset with my boy Paul picking Flo over Zandaya but both are queens. I was very impressed with Zendaya in this. Her performance stole the show for me. Also like Josh said my Apple Watch also went off twice because of my bpm lol
Even with my minor-ish issues with this, it's obviously leagues better than Lynch's adaptation, but I will say, I think I enjoyed the last 30 minutes of that adaptation than the last 30 minutes of this one.
