Chill out dude. Literally said I didn’t care for the movie and was met with equally dismissive responses. So I’ll hit back.
That was me! @radiodead even if you think these two are are emotionally cold, I’d implore you to stick around for Messiah. It’s way more emotionally resonant than the first book. and even besides that specific criticism, I would think you would appreciate the subversion of the traditional Hero’s Journey arc with how this movie ends.
And watching part 1 (about to see part 2 in an hour) and I love how how unceremonious the actual meeting between Chiani and Paul is…there’s no swelling of the strings, or shots of color, just a dour, cool shot in silence, foreshadowing the ominous implications of their love. There’s nothing heartwarming about their story, and really highlights the tragedy that’s about to play out.
I managed to avoid all the trailers and most information about this, was it known that Anya Taylor Joy was in this? That shocked me when she showed up for 40 seconds
Watched the David Lynch version for the first time this morning. While I appreciated some of it, it makes a very good case for why this needed to be 2 movies lol.
You don’t have to enjoy this movie but I’m seeing praise all over the place so it is very funny to say “time will prove me right”. Also is the crowd supposed to start hootin and hollering when the movie is over when they enjoy it?
Basically just saying I don’t believe the movie will have the legs to outlast its initial awe and spectacle, I believe that’s a fair prognostication, I’ve read the book and I still find the adaptation thin, as I’ve said.
The majority of people going to see this haven’t read the book, so you thinking the adaptation was thin doesn’t matter to most of the people going to see this. It’s already a critical success, it’s already doing better than expected, and it has probably the most stacked cast of actors millennials and gen z love. Thinking this movie won’t have legs is wild to me. Lol
oh shit you think they're gonna call it part 3? they better not. Villeneuve better swing his clout around
