Gatorade Frost lmaooooo yeah, like I know the Gatorade corrupted him further, and that desire for power was always there, he just didn't seem to have much of an internal struggle about drinking it in the first place. Sounds like I'm in good company, because I thought it was a mostly very good movie that could have been even better with a few more scenes fleshing out some character arcs/motivations.
For anyone who has read the books, would I be able to start with the second one and not be totally lost?
There are changes to the movies that would probably confuse you a bit, which is fine going from book to movie, but I think some of the plot lines and characters missing would make reading Messiah a struggle. The books are internal monologue heavy, so if you don’t know some of the characters their motivations would be lost. Plot wise, you’d probably be ok, but that’s not the focal point of the books.
To be fair I started the second book shortly after reading the first and I still found it a little confusing at times (at least until the plot really comes into focus). But honestly I think you'd be fine. The movies are pretty faithful adaptations of the first book. But also I mean if you're interested, I still think it would be worth your time to read the first book.
I think the film does a good job of showing him not wanting to go south because he knows exactly what is going to happen so the lack of a struggle didn’t bother me as much. I wish more was done with the reveal that he was a Harkonnen, that kind of felt like an afterthought.
I thought Butler was good but the voice he was using felt inconsistent. Sometimes he sounded normal, but most of the time he sounded like he was impersonating the Baron. I thought it was Stellan talking a few times. Maybe that was just me though.
How do they get off the sandworms. And why don’t the worms just go deeper underground and shake them off
Makes sense, I just thought he kinda dropped it multiple times so just thought it was a little weird.
Definitely get that, it just seems like he gave in pretty quick lol. And yeah, that reveal was initially pretty cool, but then they didn't really do anything with it. Felt largely inconsequential

They use the grappling hooks on the outer rim of its mouth which when pulled back the inner part becomes sensitive to the sand so it rotates to face up instead succumbing to the sand rider’s control. Im guessing they use those same hooks to jump off.
I loved this so much. I wish they would have made it another hour longer to expand on some stuff and have a little breathing room. My only other complaint would be that it was PG-13. If blood would have been flying against the black and white on Giedi Prime during that arena fight it would have hit so much harder.
