enjoyed it while i was watching. even watched it twice. but i actually have not been thinking about it at all since - which kinda surprises me now as i write this. its a good movie and there is some political intrigue. they seem to be going for a mix of one from the prophecy and white savior tropes. the latter looks like it will curiously both be subverted but also played straight. wouldnt at all say that theres like some breakthrough idea here for me to remember forever. its a direct response to 70s foreign policies with Iran. the world is cool.

 

Dune is? The book published in ‘65?

For sure, was just being a stickler on the specifics there.

 

From what I understand Dune originated a lot of those now-cliches

 

theres actually tons of turn of the century classic literature with the white savior trope. theres even some in the sci fi genre from HG Wells decades earlier. and in film theres lawrence of arabia.

 

Think you’ll be more intrigued as the series goes on

the Deuxmoi thing is probably fake but we'll find out soon

 

I'd be fine with Robert Pattinson just getting cast in everything

 

Pattinson would be great in that role

 

I’d go with Barry Keoghan, personally

 

I hope they give Denis all the budget for this sequel; let him run wild
