On my second and third viewing this really clicked into place for me as an absolute masterpiece. I enjoyed my first viewing and knew it was a great movie, but it took me that first viewing to just let go of: A) some of the nitty gritty plot minutiae & B) how I've personally imagined I would make a Dune movie when I've thought about it over the last couple decades
This was fine. It is certainly a bold move to just end the movie halfway through when you are dealing with a source material and a director who have disappointed at the box office in the past. Was there something about who the father was of the pregnant mother? It seemed to insinuate that she had an affair but it didn't go anywhere or was mentioned on a bathroom trip.
I understand the critiques (whether imperial related or it being half a film), but goddamn, this floored me. Got that tingly feeling when I know I've seen a great film. Can't stop thinking about it. So, so glad I finally got to watch it tonight.
Just got done watching this a 3rd time, this time with my parents on HBO Max. My Dad slept through most of it, as expected, but my Mom seemed to understand most of it. I helped explain certain things at various points, but overall she was able to pick up on most of what was happening. Trying to watch it from a more outsider perspective, like my Mom, it only solidified the film as being near perfect. Everything about it is just incredible. The dialog stood out to me this time as very well done; dialog to help explain what was happening all came at the right points, or when it would have been helpful for the viewer to help them understand more. The scale, the acting, the VFX, the pacing, the sound, all of it was near perfect. You just get enveloped into this new world as it moves along, wanting more when the film finishes. It touches on all the main points of the book, without getting too bogged down into one thing (like some reviews seem to have wanted) and sacrificing something that would have been important to show. This really reminds me now of Lawrence of Arabia, a film perfect from beginning to end, of having a grand ambition and delivering on what it sets out to do. I simply can't wait for Part 2.
No. What Jessica found alarming about it was that she was so early into it that she couldn’t understand how Paul would know
if they really wait to start filming in Fall 2022 then that prelim Oct 2023 date could get pushed to 2024
Not addressing this and the other guy with the white eyes is a really weird decision. You can only go by the book but it is not as if that is a guarantee.
not gonna lie when josh brolin and the rest of the army went into fight I thought he was going to shout witness me or something else
Thinking Harry Styles wouldn’t be a bad choice for Feyd-Rautha in Part 2. It would at least ensure the film was massively financially successful
Also, now that I think about it more, chances this comes out in October 2023 are next to nil. The sets I feel will be even bigger for Part 2, with a lot more extras needed, and combining that with the VFX work that will be required, for some pretty dope things, knowing what happens, that just won’t leave them enough time to get all the post-production done in time for that release date. I’m guessing anytime between February and June 2024
Harry Styles and Timothee Chalamet together might be too much for a certain section of Twitter to handle lol
