Re: Zendaya, she was also featured throughout the entire movie in those seven minutes, not just shoe-horned in at the end. We see her early and often. I thought it was very well done.
Was in the mood for something similar last night and landed on Stargate, lol. Far from perfect but plenty of fun!
a couple of thoughts from a person who watches movies and shows: The idea that a movie is made for the theater is kinda funny when you think about it - movies are only shown in a theater for a couple months then in most cases never again. More interesting to me is the “some plots are more conducive for theater vs a modern television series” conversation. for me that has the MOST to do with budget. As some tv show budgets approach movie budgets that goes away for me. Everyone just wants longer run times and less production times. For plots that are lengthy or have lots of worldbuilding like Dune it extra works.

We still have a lot of work to do. It’d probably be more towards fall, and even that would be fast. (Laughs.)"
Only issue at the moment is that the studio has already released an opening date for the film (October 2023), so if he starts filming next fall, he'll be a bit crunched for time to do post-production/editing
Saw it a couple days ago in Cinemark XD. Absolutely floored. My favorite movie I've seen since probably 2018, but I've loved all of Villeneuve's movies so maybe to be expected ha. Can't wait to rewatch on HBO.
I think the most impressive thing to me is how faithful to the book this is while being simultaneously quite accessible to a general audience. Quite a small needle to thread.
I have no knowledge of the source material and found it pretty accessible and easy enough to follow, even though I did miss a couple lines of dialog here and there. This is adorable ha
This is not related to Dune in any way, but your comment made me want to find a picture of some video game character with a parasol, and I stumbled across someone's list of Top 10 Video Game Umbrella Fighters: Top 10 Video Game Umbrella Fighters
Guesses on second weekend? I really think word of mouth could keep it above $25 million. I know box office is dumb but it’ll be a good way to see just how much this is hitting.
This was a masterpiece. Absolute perfection of a movie. I'm gonna go see it in 4DX this weekend, whatever that is. Reading thru the sequels now. Is there a book thread for this?
I highly recommend everyone read the other five books. They will all probably land in 'all time favorite' territory for me.
