I enjoy watching those “first time watching” videos on YouTube and pretty much every one I’ve seen for this has someone say “…we should’ve seen this in a theater.” Lol
I kind of agree with that review even though I loved the movie I could have used more Yueh and Hawat for sure. I wonder how I would feel had I not read the book for the first time just a couple of months ago.
The obvious issue with diving deeper into certain characters or scenes, is that we would have been left with less time spent on other aspects of the story, therefore (most likely) losing crucial elements of the story that help move the story forward. At already 2 hours and 35 minutes, for a big commercial product like this film, you couldn't really make it much longer, so certain things just had to be left out. I'm not sure what scenes in particular of sufficient length could have been left out of the version we got. Of course I would have loved to dive deeper into certain characters/events, but it would have been at the detriment of other important plot points. This lends itself to the idea of Dune being better suited to a TV-style multi episode series; there is merit to this idea, but based on the type of story Dune is, the setting it's based in, and the ideas brought forth, it's better suited to the big screen, the immersive experience of a theatre
The only downside about the sequel is that half of this amazing cast won’t be in the next film (I’m assuming. I have no idea if any are resurrected, had a faked death or whatever sci-fi holds)
I know this is a very small sample size, but I've been looking at the screenings for tomorrow at the various theaters in the area, and all of the evening ones are sold at at least 25% (whereas, after the first weekend, even Black Widow and F9 MAYBE had one or two seats sold the day before). Word of mouth is definitely getting around, in my opinion.
Yeah I think the word of mouth for this has been pretty strong; looking at a lot of comment sections, a lot of people are mentioning how they weren’t that interested at first, but came out of the movie actually really liking it. Seeing this especially with the Zendaya-stans
Yep there's like a hundred dumb articles about it. She's basically the co-star of part 2, everyone calm down.
Sharon Duncan-Brewster was the only main cast member I wasn't at least somewhat aware of before seeing this, so it's fitting that she stood out to me the most. Just fucking KILLED it.
I get why but it's misleading that they had Zendaya promoting the hell out of a movie she was in for 7 minutes
