Next year has ten nominees for BP, absolutely this will be nominated, I would bet so much money on it.
Someone do the meme of: Drake looking away in disgust - Avatar 2, 3, 4, 5 Drake looking approvingly - Dune 2, 3, 4, 5
I think this would get the "big blockbuster" slot in the best picture noms. It won't win but I wouldn't count it out for securing a spot in the 10. Personally i'm predicting the noms looking something like this: The Power of the Dog Belfast Dune West Side Story Don't Look Up Licorice Pizza Nightmare Alley King Richard The Tragedy of Macbeth House of Gucci
Oh Dune is the exact type of undeniable directing achievement that will at least secure him a nom. Winning though - it depends on what the reception for Licorice Pizza is like. Everyone knows PTA is way overdue
I wouldn’t count any chickens too soon re: Denis getting a Best Director nod. This kind of sci-fi historically struggles with the Academy. Not saying it won’t happen but it’s not a sure thing. It'll be up for every technical award and I definitely think it will win Visual Effects and Sound almost certainly.
Everyone’s talking about casting for Feyd this, casting for Irulan that. The real question is what the hell are they going to do with Alia
If this is gonna be filming by next summer, I would imagine casting announcements will come pretty quickly.
Yeah I don’t envy them having to figure out Alia. That’s tough as hell. Especially because you really CANT age her up considering the timeline and also that character needs to be as young as she is to be effective.
I guess I was thinking of the girl in Lynch’s version. Does that little time really happen between the timeskip? I feel like they’ll have to make it longer for the movie then
