I feel bad I’m not contributing to the box office numbers, but I really can’t afford to go to the show. If it’s on HBO Max and I’m already paying for it, I’m staying home. Anyway, I’m excited to watch this this weekend when I have time.
This was … fine? I’m not at all familiar with the source material but it definitely felt like this would have been better off as a serialized show vs a movie - even knowing there’s a part 2 coming. Might be way off base but this reminded me a lot of Rogue One - solid performances, interesting visuals but a story that just seemed to take forever to get off the ground. I’ll definitely check out Part 2 and I’m glad others are really enjoying it but I don’t think this is one I’d revisit again in the near future.
Man that 2 and a half hours flew by, this thing chooches baby I really enjoyed it. I feel like it somehow over explains some things, and under explains others. I really want to see more of the Harkonen world because holy shit all of that ruled. The shot of the dudes being bled out was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen
Also I probably would have cared more about Dune pre-Villeneuve if somebody told me it was about ninjas
This was something else. Lots to unpack can’t wait to rewatch in a few days. Denis is my fav for a reason.
Wow. This was phenomenal. A whole new universe brought to life, in vivid color and sound. When the Atreides first landed on Arrakis, and the Scottish bagpipe music started playing - chills. Seeing Paul struggle initially during the Gom Jabbar scene, before then overcoming his pain - more chills. You really get the impression that, provided they keep making them, we’re getting the next great sci-fi series. It had everything that I envisioned when I read the book. Bravo Denis, bravo
i thought it was a mild take at best but i've since learned people actually like bagpipes which is fucked
