yeah this is absolutely incredible. a hair behind BR2049 for me also Rebecca Ferguson's movie through and through, which is how it should be. she's incredible and Jessica is the best character in the book
Bought tickets to the IMAX in St Augustine (my favorite theater) to go see this. Happy to have this as my first movie back in a theater.
Question for anyone who's seen it: Obviously this movie's gonna be decent at worst and has state of the art vfx, but does it ever tap the potential for psychedelic weirdness that some filmmakers saw in the source material, or does it consistently stay close to what the trailers have been showing?
Seeing this next tuesday while I'm on vacation in AZ. Sadly no imax within 2 hours of Flagstaff though.
Apparently this is going up on HBO Max a day early now??? They must really not want to make that second part lol
white foam pooling around the corners of my mouth as I imagine someone watching this on the horrendous HBO Max app on PS5 that tops out at 720p
I saw no time to die in theatre and everyone was maskless and coughing, sneezing, snorting, etc. Won't be back in a theatre for a while personally.
very very straight adaptation of the source material. some might say to a fault, given some of Denis' past work and the potential for weirdness in this story. imo it's clearly a deliberate choice to avoid any negative association with the Lynch adaptation, and again - I really cannot stress this enough - it is absolutely phenomenal on every conceivable level
I work in a theater and these maskless mouthbreathers get inches from my face because they can't figure out their left or right or know how to read so if I'm gona get COVID it'll be from that... but still gona watch this at home on my TV with headphones and none of these disgusting creeps distracting me.
basically all I want out of this is BR2049 style hypnodrone with massive brutalist architecture/spectacle and that's exactly what everyone is saying it is so I couldn't be more stoked
I've never read the book so I can't speak to the weirdness, but I thought it was great. Effects were great, world building was great (which I often find lacking in sci-fi like Star Wars) - the alien languages and sounds were interesting, the planetary life was believable, the visual effects were awesome - if anything I found it a little weird how late Zendaya's character arrived and how abruptly the movie ended.
