It is a bit of a weird marketing strategy to have your stars say to see it in theaters while your studio is letting people watch it on their phone.
I think it’s just people involved in creating something cool telling others what they think is the best way to experience said cool thing.
I think this has been promoted enough to get a good enough portion of the "I'll go to a theatre" crowd into the theatre for this, while also getting a lot of people to watch the HBO Max version (which WB has said will actually be a bigger indicator for whether a sequel moves ahead or not)
I was planning on going on Friday with my wife but just found out my cinema is having a members screening tonight so got a ticket for that too. I am very excited.
Seeing this in IMAX this weekend. I wonder if having it play on a loop on HBO Max will help the view count, or if they are more concerned about unique users
Will for sure be watching it a 2nd time via HBO Max Saturday night with my parents, as there's no way they'd pay to see this in the theatre, hahaha
Timmy and Zendaya are now promoting the film via the official @instagram account, with it's 434m followers, which should help with movie awareness, haha
I thought this was incredible and I'm dying to see the next part already haha. As someone who's never read any of the books I didn't think it was difficult to follow at all.
Very psyched for this. That said, I read the book 10 or so years ago and had forgotten most of the plot. I recently checked out the audiobook and the graphic novel from the library as a refresher and there's some problematic stuff in its worldview. Maybe that's to be expected given it was written in the 60s, or maybe I'm not far enough along to see how it plays out. Regardless, I'm confident in Villenueve and pretty excited about this cast
