Holy fuck. Yeah this really looks like it could be a modern classic.

Fully agreed. I feel like this could end up similar to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, where it does take some liberties but ultimately exposes a huge new fan base to the source material.

 

I really hope audiences don't just bounce right off this thing. It looks incredible.

Looks amazing. I might reread the book to prepare.

 

The book is phenomenal. Read it for the first time last year, couldn't put it down. Blazed through it in like three nights. Highly encourage anyone who hasn't read it yet to read it before seeing the movie.

 

I plan on doing a read once i'm finished with my current one. Read it a while back but forgotten most of it.

This does have instant classic potential all over it - if its as good as it looks, I could see it having good WOM and it sticking around for a while even if the opening weekend isn't the greatest

Also: once again REALLY wondering where this movie is going to cut off the story at. It looked like at the end of the trailer we were seeing the Fremen guerilla warfare campaign against the Harkonnens.

 

The fucking pessimism about this thing on Twitter is astounding, re the box office. Good lord.
