Wish I had any confidence that I'll feel safe in a movie theater this year, because I really want to see that worm in IMAX.
That looks like an absolutely gorgeous movie which has "unappreciated in its own time" written all over it.
I kind of wish this was a little more colorful, but it really fits the "mechanical/industrial" feel he's going for, very similar to blade runner. Jason Mamoa looks like this is going to be a breakout role for him
I think keys to this having crossover appeal to mainstream audiences would be if the action is good, and the characters feel human. Jason Mamoa going full "My man" is a good sign of some human touch in otherwise weird alien world
Trailer whips hine I’ve already seen some whining that Momoa makes Idaho too bro-y but I feel it’s not really an unreasonable liberty to take
Bro-y???? Wtf. Mamoa in the interview looked like he was emotionally connected to the role, and that liberty might just give more of a heart to the film, which may otherwise be pretty dour outing
also, this movie is going to be huge. of course they gave denis a real budget* *edit: was going to be huge during filming. of course covid changes things. still could end up being the biggest of the year.
Pt. 2 isn't technically greenlit yet but it's going to be, yeah. There's an HBO Max prequel series in the works and the script for pt. 2 has already been started so it's just a matter of time.
I have no idea what's going on based on the trailer, but it looks fantastic. Guess I should finally read the book.
Where is this one expected to end, then? I've only seen the Lynch movie so idk what in the book would be considered a good halfway point
