After having watched Blade Runner 2049 and being blown away by how amazing it was I feel like if anyone can pull Dune off as a movie its Denis Villeneuve. I honestly just don't see Dune being the type of box office success it would need to be to justify it's budget and what it's going to cost. I hope I am wrong. I'm sure I'm going to love it no matter what though.

Yeah Star Wars isn’t cerebral enough, and I’d rather Denis not be subjected to Star Wars fans

 

Do they have a planned release date for this yet? My guess is spring or summer 2020.

 

I'm sure everyone here will be mad at me, but I've never read Dune and it sounds super boring. But Villeneuve / cast so far has me excited.

 

It absolutely sounds boring. It is absolutely not.

 

Never read it or seen Lynch’s movie. Just excited for anything Denis.

 

You should read it. I’m curious how long it takes before you say “wow, no one else should direct this. He was born for it.”
