She legit sold out both nights at Wembley Stadium without any support acts being announced for it yet
For the record, I like this album and think it's actually kind of refreshing to have a major pop artist not trying desperately to cling to the spotlight. That said, the narrative of this album/era is definitely that it underperformed, which, overblown or not, could impact her career going forward. Or it won't! I don't know! I mostly wish "These Walls" got pushed as a single, because I think it could have done better than any of the other songs they released from this.
Yeah...that's not really what I was asking. I was just genuinely curious as to if her father has music business ties or if he was stepping in at her request due to her possibly feeling like her management dropped the ball. According to Wikipedia, her father was a lead singer of a band in Kosovo so makes sense that he probably has some idea of how to look out for an artist.
I thought the people repeatedly saying “THIS ALBUM IS A FLOP!!!!” were a bit annoying (it charted at #1 in the UK and #2 in the US lol) but the discussion has largely shifted from that to how this album campaign is being run/the albums staying power, which I think, like @Crisp X said, is fair game to discuss (and it’s being discussed on all the other music forums, Reddit, etc. about her album, it’s not like we are the only ones targeting her) For what it’s worth: I like Dua, I saw her twice in the Future Nostalgia era and I still like her! I like this album! I just don’t think stifling discussion on what people are noticing are drastic differences between the last albums era and this one is fair. Also, I think people are being very rational here, no one is full on hating on Dua or anything, just giving their two cents in a respectful way. I know this topic has come up numerous times but there isn’t much else Dua is giving us to talk about aside from the music which has been discussed quite a bit since the albums release.
Okay so I definitely saw the no avatar and mixed you up with someone else. So that’s my bad and I’m sorry. I’m still an asshole regardless but my annoyance was intended for the person that was always making everything about her supposed flop era. So apologies everyone for going off like that. And sorry I made assumptions about anyone.
No, I totally agree with this. I was just being a dick because I thought it was the same annoying crap as always and got too pissed off about it for some reason.
just @ me next time, no collateral damage. the album rules, but it flopped. doesn’t diminish her or her talent, this was just a miss.
I didn’t want to @ you because I was wrong and was just being an asshole. My apology was meant for you too.
I don’t think anyone was prepared for Charli, Chappell, and Sabrina to be the ones with the hit albums this year either and that also probably did not help Dua or this album
I also get the feeling that she truly is fine with it, she doesn't ooze needing to be on the top like Taylor or anyone else releasing 100x versions of their album, she seems to be enjoying her life and vacationing, which is awesome. She seems 100% fine with how the album was released and is received so who cares. it's honestly kinda nice and refreshing to see someone like her and Ariana Grande and Billie release albums and not hyper-market and try to make them megahits, they came out, found their audience, and they don't need to be on the top of all the Best of 2024 lists
I could be wrong but I think that presale is tomorrow. I think today is just presale for AMEX cardholders
I was kind of curious what prices were going to be like for this tour but I forgot to sign up for presale, oops.
Not cheap, ranged from $135-350 for NYC before fees, not sure if that was dynamic or not though. No one said she couldn’t sell arenas, she just probably can’t do an arena in Ottawa or Des Moines on a Tuesday this touring cycle. Stick to A-markets and she’ll be fine.
"This album is a flop, definitely memory-holed" (Headlines Glastonbury) "Yeah but like...she's from the UK and that's a big festival, album is still a flop" (Books 2 shows at Wembley Stadium, sells them out) "I don't know guys....not sure she'll be able to mount a large scale arena tour" (Books arenas, adds shows due to demand)
