reminds me of solar power by lorde which I look back on much more fondly today than I did when it came out. fun little album but def something I’d score a 6-7. plenty of room for albums like that in my library
Absolutely a perfect comparison. If you put Solar Power against her first two albums, unquestionably pales in comparison. If you listen to it as a standalone album, yes its absolutely enjoyable and breezy summer vibey. I think similarly, nowhere did Lorde come out and present it as her best material ever, she seemed pretty realistic about what she was giving us
I’m gonna give it a listen after work but I’m definitely going to be a little bummed if it took her four years to put out a bunch of songs that don’t really go anywhere.
Yeah. I feel like it’s trying to do like a late 90s eurodance thing but winds up feeling like it has no soul lol
My wife is a diehard JT fan and I think she’s gone back to a grand total of 2 of those songs since release
This has easily met my expectations. Super happy with it. Hope we get a full extended version too, but with so many albums being so long and full of filler recently, I'm loving the conciseness. Will fit in nicely behind FN at the end of the day.
Started on this now, I haven't listened to Houdini since it first dropped but I like it more than I initially did, not that I disliked it at first but I dig it more now which is cool.
I think it’s great. It’s no future nostalgia but it also doesn’t suffer from the last two tracks that FN had. In that regard, I think it’s a better overall album experience front to back. It’s not groundbreaking by any means but sometimes you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Blown away by Falling Forever.
Yea damn this is fun! Will absolutely have the album bopping for people and in my car all summer, it might not be quite as definitive as Future Nostalgia but that's perfectly fine when she's still producing quality songs. There's no song on here that's as bad as Good in Bed so that's cool! Hot take but I still like Boys Will Be Boys, love the melody she goes on the chorus for it.
As someone who mostly knows FN through cultural osmosis and have not really listened to a Dua album all the way through, I'm pretty happy with this one. The singles have all really grown on me and These Walls is an instant hit for me. Hope she tours near me. It would be a blast.
