what this record reminds me of most is the last two kylie minogue records: fine, pleasant, dancey, well produced, but just,,,,,,I need more, I expected more, after the huge jump that Future Nostalgia was for her. This just feels extremely SAFE and almost phoned in, not going to move the needle for her AT ALL, aside more now there are more dua lipa songs. I think the P4k comparison to Rina Sawayama's Hold The Girl is also apt, both records feel like undercooked holdovers from the previous album lacking direction of their own.

I think this rocks so hard. And I especially think it kicks into high gear for the last 4 songs. Which is a nice change of pace because the last 2 songs on FN are easily my least favorites.

We reach for the longest shadow

Alright I am absolutely here for a pop album that is 36 minutes long and just keeps the good upbeat vibes throughout the whole time. This rules.

EDIT: Man I love Training Season

We reach for the longest shadow

Kevin Parker feels like the perfect collaborator with her here. I can immediately tell which ones he helped with because of the drums. Whatcha Doin', come on.

EDIT again: That flute in Maria, I am dancing

I didn't love my first listen but also didn't hate it. Feels like it will grow and be good for summer days outside for sure

I'm enjoying this, "Falling Forever" is the standout for me on first listen.

After a few listens, I’m currently in the camp that says this is a solid, fun pop record that doesn’t quite meet the highs of its predecessor. It’s not particularly exciting, but at the same time it’s hard for me to see how anyone that likes her past material wouldn’t also like this

I have no idea in what world a 6.6 from pitchfork is a yikes. From what I’m hearing I’m leaning toward a light 7 but yeah it’s good not great kind of expected

    The rivalry is back on

This is good and Hold The Girl is good

Scores are kind of all over the place if you look at all of them so not sure why the 6.6 got singled out to begin with. All of it’s irrelevant anyway. The GQ bit was funny, and true. Album is definitely good.

I’ll give you Tension…some crazy high highs but a lot of filler….BUT, Disco will not have any slander. That was one of the most slept on pop record ever, dancing at home during the quarantine, this was my record.

Hold the Girl is good, but I do think it's a sonically apt comparison.

"These Walls" is a great song here tho.

infuriatingly hostile review. it's basically just paragraph after paragraph calling her dumb. thank you, Laura Snapes.

I'm more baffled about Future Nostalgia only getting a 7.5.

I'm up to Falling Forever and so far every song has been at least good if not exceptional (the singles, these walls, end of an era).

Having not listened to the record yet, that review is not that negative? It seems pretty in line with what a lot of people in here are saying
