Just got myself up to date with all of the released singles from this album, besides "Don't Start Now"... yeahhh, I'm definitely looking forward to this.
This whole thing slaps. Pretty much what I’ve been needing for the past couple of months. Wasn’t big in on Dua’s first album (My first exposure was that single with Miguel, which is so middle of the road for what she’s good at). This is another level.
I liked the singles from the first album, but yeah, this does feel like it's on another level... Still feels like a typical "big" pop album or whatever, but when Dua's at her best she's great. Plus the production and overall direction seems to have a really cool tone and aesthetic this time around... Idk, I'm here for it!
Yeah her debut is one of my favorite pop albums of the past few years, I think I ranked it top 5 that year, and this is better than it in every way lol.
I gave the first album another listen, and the ballads / most chilled songs really are mood killers. With the rerelease, you can make a fantastic album out of the +20 songs though. This one just feels like a classic right away. I'm excited to check out the actual livestream later, as yesterday's crashed lol Props to her team for handling this rollout so perfectly in the middle of a pandemic too: A week in the life of team Dua Lipa as Future Nostalgia drops early
The "That was sarcasm in case you need it mansplained" came off as really forced and cringey to me, but maybe that's the point? To be really annoying to highlight how uncomfortable it is when Men try to say the obvious for women?
