Dropout did a crossover with The Rookie too, so the fact that they've all been in each other's orbit - intentionally or unintentionally - is kind of funny

this one took a tiny bit to get going for me, but Jesus, when it got there, they went all the way. very well done episode. MVP performance from Josh. and Anna's "Paul Robalino" killed me

Felt like the episode dragged a bit (OG ruelette had the same problem) but man that highs were high

Anna's "Paul Robalino" I'm not even sure if she was trying to "play mean" or the stress got to her and she just snapped but either way perfectly delivered

All time MVP performance from Josh

And Demi just counting to a hundred was so perfect

The more I reflect on it, I think my biggest issue with the Rulette episodes is that they require a level of suspension of disbelief that I think in a way negatively impacts the rest of the series

I know stuff is edited. Prompts get cut. They might do some reshoots. but most of the time you can tell yourself it's minor and ignore it (and I think most of the time it is)

The narrative of the Rulette episodes being this crashendoing ball of chaos works incredibly well. Like you get to the end, everyone sticking their stuff on Sam, it narratively feels like an end and sure enough they end

But leave it to actual random chance and you're not actually going to generally get that satisfying arc. You could land on end super early. Or get a bunch of prompts in a row. To make the magic work, you need to put your thumb on the scales and embrace respins (notice how they almost never show a spin in full)

On the one hand, it's fine. Both episodes are still incredibly funny

On the other, if they are willing to stack the deck for Rulette, whose to say they aren't stacking the deck like for other episodes too? I can't ignore the fact that Rulette is heavily edited, and that makes it harder to ignore the fact that other episodes are too. Which idk ruins the magic of the show a bit for me.

  25. I’ll be honest never even thought of any of that lol. Just like to turn my brain off a bit and laugh. But now that you brought it up I might have that in the back of my mind.
