so maybe I'm wrong, but I think this will be the first time Isbell and DBT have been scheduled to appear on the same stage back-to-back. certainly first time in awhile at the least. I'm already seeing DBT the day before they play the festival and have tickets to see Isbell in Nov...but think I might have to make the drive down for Sunday of this, too good to pass up. even if it's just one song would be awesome to see Isbell/Hood/Cooley all on the same stage
I mean Isbell has sat in here and there with DBT before but never sang I think? Except for the acoustic show for charity of course Look there's not gonna be a full on ""reunion"" bc there doesn't need to be, Jason is his own artist now. But if we get even one song and I'm not there to see it imma be pissed haha And even without that, DBT/Isbell back to back is god tier
Would seriously consider flying across the country if I knew they would play songs together. Hell, might do it anyway.
This is a niche desire haha but my dream tier reunion song would honestly not even be one of the Jason ones. I wanna hear him play on "Where the Devil Don't Stay" or something like that because neither Neff nor Gonzalez have really nailed that slide riff in the years since Isbell left
Also Centro-Matic being on the bill is pretty damn cool. I'm sure Jason is very stoked to have talked them into getting back together for the fest, seeing as he wrote a wholeass song about them ("To a Band I Loved")
You all may already know this but that 2014 acoustic show for charity just got put up on Spotify. Haven't had a chance to listen yet.
wild to find out that the guy who produced all their albums since southern rock opera played bass in fucking Sugar
Man. As the years go by, as much as SRO/DD/TDS mean so much to me...I'm really starting to think American Band is their best record
it’s really really good. for some reason i have a personal attachment to english oceans, though that’s probably towards the middle of their discography if i’m trying to be somewhat objective
He played on Heathens and then sang John Henry. Think I scared my wife with how much I freaked out when they ripped into John Henry haha
I haven’t listened to much DBT although I’ve really liked what I’ve heard (mostly their earlier stuff). Seeing them with a friend on Monday, what are the essentials?
