I've been on a huge binge with these guys over the past week and idk if this is a controversial opinion but Brighter Than Creation's Dark is by far their high watermark for me (still haven't listened to American Band) Just an incredible double album with excellent contributions from all three writers
One of those erie moments where life imitates art ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes dies in rocket crash trying to prove Earth is flat From 'Thoughts and Prayers':
This post is old but thread got bumped and I saw it. I still like the first two Isbell albums more than Brighter but most days I like Brighter more than SRO. Brighter is so so good, I agree it doesn't get it's due My top five would be DD>TDS>Brighter>SRO>American Band if you forced me to choose
i know everyone likes to talk about Patterson and Jason, but reminder "ramon casiano," "once they banned imagine," "shit shots count" and "made up English oceans" are some of the best songs last decade
Title track is very very good. From reading Patterson's descriptions of the tracks in that article it looks like this one unfortunately is going to be very light on Cooley again but is what it is
I don't like the Reagan spinning in his grave line, if that's supposed to mean Reagan wasn't a monster himself
hard for me to say when I haven't heard the song you're referring to but the line "goddamn reagan's in the white house and nobody gives a damn" comes to mind
okay yeah I don't really get that line either, goes over like a lead balloon. like the record so far tho
Ramones cover was cool. Bummed there was only one Cooley song but it was a good one. Felt kinda like the outtakes collection is though, good listen but not a super cohesive record necessarily.
