To start off, has anybody seen the BBC re-scored version of this?

I haven't, but I loved the music to this movie. Was it any good?

I quite enjoyed it; they had artists like The 1975, Jon Hopkins, BANKS, CHVRCHES, Eric Prydz, Foals, Bastille, etc create tracks especially for the film. I personally thought it was really well done, but others online consider the music of the original film untouchable, so can't have any other music with the movie. If you can find a copy online I def consider checking it out.

    Here's one of them

In recent memory, Drive is the epitome of style over substance.

That said, there were some enjoyable moments but overall pretty lackluster.

This has become a disappointing trend in so many recent movies that try to exist as an homage to previous genres. They miss the heart of those earlier films.

I didn't have a "problem" with Drive, I just recognized right from the get go that there will be a lot of pretty things to look at and an awesome soundtrack, but little else.

Yeah there's not much actual substance in the story itself, but the style is soooo well executed that I'm willing to overlook the substance part. It's just such a great movie to watch.

Oh for sure. It's one of the better examples of matching a soundtrack to a movie.

The Guest is another great example of this.

I really enjoyed The Guest for not having any expectations going into it.

it's gorgeous. I don't even really like it but I had to buy it for that alone. you can just put it on in the background and pretty much every frame is beautiful

Isn't it similar to Starry Eyes? I remember hearing that.
