Releasing only a week after Lemonade has definitely hurt Views for me since I still pretty much only want to listen to that.
Glad I read this thread and had my expectations lowered because I think this is pretty great. Only a few tracks I don't care for
Overall I'm enjoying this, but it does feel like he needs to branch out more conceptually, because nothing here comes across to me as fresh as it did on Take Care, for instance. I think the problem for me was I was expecting Drake's "magnum opus" and it's ultimately just another Drake album. A solid Drake album, at least for me, but certainly not his masterpiece.
Feel No Ways is my favorite so far. Handful of other good tracks. Like others, I just wish this wasn't so long. Every Drake album could stand to be trimmed by a couple of songs.
Like this more with each listen. Not gonna become my favorite from him but I find myself wanting to revisit more and more
With my second listen, I found myself wanting to skip a lot of the songs. It was the same with pretty much all of his other releases tho. I never expected something magnificent from Drake. I guess I just knew where he stood in the game. He's got some good stuff and some stuff that's excellent, but most of it I listen to without feeling "wowed" and just for entertainment So my thoughts on the album? it's good. It's a good album, not great. A drake album.
Listened to the first time this evening and I really enjoyed it, whether it will get better or worse with progressive listens has yet to be seen.
I've had this on in the background for the last hour and it's been pretty enjoyable. Definitely super chill.
It's rewarding listening front to back but I'm mostly just shuffling around my 8-10 favorites right now.
looking like this is gonna do a million plus this week reviews are starting to come in too pitchfork 6.8 stereogum didnt like it nyt says he's kind of boxed in by his own success/rehashing CoS B
Dude may have taken "6" off the album title, but he probably should have taken "6" off the track list as well
Enjoy this more than NWTS after a few listens, the album is quite bloated and samey but some really really good tracks. The switch up in U With Me? some of the worldplay in Hype, in fact the first 6 tracks of the album are great if he stripped it down a then this could have been a really great album. Instead we just a collection of solid Drake tracks.
Not sure on this yet. Really did expect a lot more boisterous songs since what's been happening with him since IYRT. It never comes out the blocks and seems to be on two levels, one being chilled mood and the other a bit of a dance and groove. The first six songs is really strong, middle loses me until One Dance then it's a bit up and down. Definitely could've done with some trimming. Future also could've bothered instead of that one line over and over and over again.
I think the bloated feeling if he would have did the double album like some people were expecting. I can see how they could have split it with the two distinct feelings on the album. I still really enjoy the album though, it's Drake back to the basics which I can see how that throws people off when the past two albums have been "banger" albums for the most part.
