popcaan sample in too good is amazing pity he didn't put desiigner on grammys rather than that other imposter
When did you get married? It came out just before my wedding too! I have very clear memories of writing my vows while listening to that album haha
Don't think this piece is very good but I just want to share it because I don't think there will be any other Drake think pieces that compares him to Martin Scorsese TIFF.net | Drake is Music's Martin Scorsese
Only on track 5 but im feeling it so far I'm usually pretty critical of Drake but ive enjoyed this chilled out vibe. the production is pretty incredible-- that ending to Feel No Ways is really beautiful in a way i didnt expect
I'm guessing this isn't what happened, but I was thinking the other day... With Drake saying that he has more tracks coming this summer that are not Views related, I think back to when he dropped One Dance and Pop Style w/ The Throne at the same time. I wonder if this could have been a test of sorts, dropping the chill track with the heavier hitter, and seeing which one takes off. What if, in the case that Pop Style did better, Views would have actually been full of more heavier tracks (possibly the tracks that will come this summer). It would be an interesting marketing strategy for sure, to read the landscape and build the album based on those vibes. Anyway, I'm sure this album is the album he always wanted it to be... but what if
I dig this, it's a little bloated but I like more than I dislike. It's far and away better than IYRTITL
Fave tracks after sitting on my full listen this morning: With You, Too Good, Grammys, Childs Play, U With Me?. I like the album a lot but it's the first where I feel I'm going to struggle listening from front to back frequently. I kind of wish there were more guests. Drake plays good off a lot of people, especially when he lets them take the hook every now and then.
That's the song that really got me into SFG around that time. Obviously the song is great, but being a freshman at OSU at the time, the Buckeye line didn't hurt either.
Think the tonal shift on If You're Reading This got me more excited on my initial listen than anything on this album has done for me. Everything feels very safe which obviously but coming into the year of Lemonade and The Life of Pablo, I doubt this will leave a lasting mark for me.
Had a pretty good first listening experience. Did it in my car at work in between deliveries, so that eliminated the length being an issue. Plus it's cold and gloomy out, which felt right. Only song I think I came close to outright not caring for was 9, with more than a handful of standouts. Didn't hit me as hard as NWTS on first listen.
This is probably one of my favorite albums so far this year. There were only a few songs I didn't care for but the rest of the album was a banger. I enjoyed listening to it and while it isn't my favorite Drake release, it is certainly up there. I think "If You're Reading This" will always be my favorite. Easily my favorite track is "Weston Road Flows" due to the lyrics, they fit perfectly.
After one listen I enjoyed it but I was a little underwhelmed. That's probably because of all the hype built around it. Like somebody else said a few pages back, I was expecting this to be a bit more triumphant, like more of a clear/definitive statement from him but this kinda felt like it meandered a bit. Maybe with more listens it will grow on me. Just seemed like he was building to THE drake album and this is kind of just another Drake album
I think people still waiting for Drake to make his "opus" are gonna be disappointed. He's already made it and it's called Take Care.
