A couple more listens and all I've been really able to nail down on my feelings about the record is that I think it's way too long.
I keep finding myself checking how many more tracks to go there are. This thing is so damn long. I've enjoyed almost every single song, but I also don't see myself returning to it very much at all.
I still haven't listened to the complete thing but I got through to like 17 or 18 last night and it was the first time I really felt the length on a Drake record
Just completed first listen. Some good tracks, but nothing jumping out at me yet. I think the thing that made Take Care so great for me is it had the songs that made great singles but they still fit in the album. Views just feels disjointed to me. I like listening to a record and feeling like the songs were all made around the same time and with a similar vibe/idea. This kinda feels like him saying "here's the best songs I have laying around let's put them out and hope for a hit single."
The album is too long, too mellow, and too repetitive. Could've used some editing and a few more bangers.
I've said this before but I don't necessarily know if Drake's released a great album yet. I find most of them a bit bloated tbh. Again, though, I don't really connect with him as much as most of you do
You can't ban me Fireworks Kareoke The Resistence is a fucking great trio to open the LP / Shut It Down is his sexiest song ever / Up All Night and Miss Me are bangers / Find Your Love is the best non808s song Kanye produced etc It's a totally fine debut and better than the last few things he's released
