21 songs and an hour and half runtime is just too much. It feels like a chore to listen to the whole thing at once in my opinion. There are some decent songs but some of it feels like he is on autopilot.
It's too long like every other album these days. I like that its more classic rapping/singing Drake with less "gimmicks" like UK drill accents or that Jamaican/African accent . I guess Way 2 Sexy is a gimmick song for TikTok but I like the flip of that sample and it being a bit different sample wise. He brings back some older flows/rhyme schemes that haven't been used in a bit. 7AM lives up to the AM/PM songs and he steps on Kanye hard in that one. You could cut this down and have a really good album from it. I think its a solid album without that, though I enjoy Drake than probably most people on here. I would like to see him branch out production wise on the next album or go with one producer not named 40 like the Nas/Hit Boy series.
I’d like to see him do some more songs with DJ Dahi or Jamie XX. Alchemist, Kaytranada, and Mike Dean would be awesome too.
That was a chore to finish. I liked the Beatles sample in Champagne Poetry. Also dig Papi's Home, N 2 Deep and You Only Live Twice. Liked the Kanye attack on 7am on Bridle Path. But wayyyyy too much filler. Songs just blended together. Not a lot of verses that grabbed my attention.
Man I don’t even hear a single on this thing. Just wind, in one ear and out the other. I guess the big story here is gonna be the Kanye bars on 7am but I really couldn’t be less interested in those two going at it at this point in their respective careers
You did, I think that is a parody of a Boyz II Men song as well. Edit: Yeah the Kwahi portion is a parody of the Boyz II Men video for Water Runs Dry.
Drake has become a singles artist for me over the last few records but on first listen I'm not sure this even has that.
Man Wayne absolutely bodied that track, what the fuck Ross feature was great too but man. Almost glad this thing exists for that verse alone
Imagine a 10-13 album track with the energy of "No Friends in the Industry." Just bizarre how long this took to put out considering how much of a slog it is
certainly helps that only like... 4 of us were even awake so the convo was able to note move at hyper speed. @sophos34 and I will team up again for the next mediocre 2 hour hip hop release, see ya there
here's the answer we were wondering about last night: Certified Lover Boy’s stripper ode “TSU” utilizes the same symphonic intro found in Kelly’s 1998 single “Half on a Baby.” The sample occurs around 20 seconds into the song. Due to the sample, Kelly is also a credited songwriter on the track.
