Precisely this. Length is never an issue as long as it’s warranted and goes well. Lots of rap albums now are long for the sake of juicing stream numbers
Exactly. Can’t imagine what the hold up was, outside of Drake probably needing to find some inspiration that he clearly never got. Either way, waste of time. What a dull, dull album.
I think there's some sort of solution, if the artist want it, where you kinda combine two trends. Essentially if on the Friday, an artist puts out their normal-length album that potentially is just as long as it needs to be, and then the Tuesday after or whatever, they release the deluxe edition with another 10 b-sides essentially. This way you get the juiced streaming numbers but you still can have your creative "main album" and then you essentially get two release dates within the first week, so it probably would get you even more streaming numbers. Anyway, just spitballin, it could also make zero sense hah
First listen and this is easily my least favourite release of his. Can barely remember any parts or hooks at all.
@sophos34 @irthesteve can you guys do live track by track impressions more often? That was genuinely fun to follow
last Drake record I loved was Nothing Was the Same (I was getting fatigued by If You’re Reading This). Has done nothing for me since (“Nice For What” is a major exception).
