You might be underleveled...? I know debuffs work really well on him, I don’t remember that boss fight being too difficult. There might be another strategy too.

Your advice was very good. I grinded a lot outside his throne room, and after two more attempts hit a stride during his encounter. Used a lot of buffs, and the hero’s Quadrobash.

I've been slowly playing because the Switch version physically hurts me (motion sickness, eye strain). But I just did the part with the Mermaid and god damn that was sad.

 

Can anyone tell me how far I am / How much more game I have ahead of me?

lol I honestly don't remember. I finished the game at around 100 hours. But I 100%'d it so don't use that as a gauge.

 

So I just beat it, is the post game stuff really worth playing? Seeing a Lot of mixed reviews, most people say it’s just brutally hard

 

Umm I'd say it depends on how much you enjoyed the characters and story. What did you think overall?

 

It was fine. I thought the story was crazy thin for how long it was, probably took it's time a little too much/too much filler, but I still enjoyed it for the most part.

@I Am Mick what are some of your favorite JRPGs??

 

I'm not the hugest JRPG fan, this was actually the first one I beat in almost a decade. FF7, FF8, Chrono Trigger. Honestly the remake of FF7 was so disappointing that I wanted to go back to something classic, which is what led me to this. I'm definitely chasing the original FF7 feeling.

I think I'm just old and grumpy, it's hard for me to find games that genuinely hook me like the classics did.

 

I ultimately wasn't a fan of the remake either. I'm a huge JRPG fan. You ever play FF6??

 

Nope, I've been holding out for a Switch port, I don't think I have anything I could even play it on otherwise

 

They really need to do a 4-6 collection, it would sell like crazy.
