Tien King Piccolo World Tournament Pilaf Commander Red Piccolo Jr Fortuneteller Baba Red Ribbon General Blue Would be my ranking
One of the (unintentionally?) funniest parts of the series is in the Red Ribbon saga though (I guess spoiler warning for the end of the arc): at the end of some late-saga ep, there’s a big build-up of everyone traveling to the RRA headquarters for a huge final battle, Goku by himself and then his friends all together on the way to help him. But then the next episode (or two?) is just Goku absolutely decimating the entire army by himself with little difficulty while his friends don’t even get there until it’s all over. It genuinely made me laugh really hard when they showed up, like “oh right I totally forgot that these guy were even on their way, they didn’t matter at all” lol
The Red Ribbon Army stuff is definitely the most boring part of Dragonball. The countless generals and other officers are not nearly as interesting as the other villains throughout the show.
Yeah I don't love the RR arc. But, I do really like the underground pirate lair and Mercenary Tao stuff. Also not a big fan of the first arc. I feel like the show takes off when Roshi starts training Goku and Krillin. I can appreciate the first arc as an intro to the characters, but I actually just started a fresh watch at episode 13. Should have stayed dead in the pirate lair for sure
I liked the RR army stuff in the DB manga. Never watched the anime, but in the manga it goes by pretty smooth
Finished the Tournament. On episode 29 the first episode of the larger Red Ribbon Saga. Great glad to know that episodes 29 - 67 will be boring as hell lmao Now onto the long slog.
I know I've watched the rest of Dragonball after the RR saga probably two or three times, but I always feel like I don't appreciate it very much because of how burned out I am by that point. haha. Dragonball as a whole is so good though. I'm due for a rewatch.
It's a shame that Suno and Eighter, two very loveable characters, are introduced in the most boring section of the RR arc imo
I wanna give you romance I wanna give you paradise Make your dreams come true, you'll see fantasy Magic can happen to youuuuu Absolute bop of a closing theme
I have watched 36 episodes in 3 days. That song and the end credits image of Bulma staring into a mirror are burned into the brain lol
The DBZ Faulconer score? I would say it's controversial, but not uncommon. People argue about it all the time haha. Personally I think it's hit or miss. A lot of the time, it fits the tone of DBZ better vs continuing to keep the more light hearted music that OG Dragon Ball used. But other times, it's really bad like when they're just doing subtle sound effects
Yeah that score fits the more intense and sci-fi mood of DBZ. It stopped being about martial arts the second Raditz showed up
I agree. I’d stick with the Japanese score of the original DB. The instrumental of Makafushigi Adventure could easily be placed into a Bruce Lee film and would match the charm and action. And I love the intermissions
