So much of the story relies on the characters being impossibly stupid.

During Frieza they establish that Dende can heal people and that Saiyans get much stronger from getting serious injuries, so they try to use that to beat Frieza and it keeps Vegeta in the running until Frieza figures out the scheme and kills Dende. Why was that never used again now that Dende lives on Earth? It seems like it would have been a great trick to use when the Cell Games were coming up or they realized they couldn't beat Buu or the Androids instead of spending a year of your life in solitary confinement hyperbolic time chamber.

I still remember a line in the anime when Piccolo should have had the dragon radar but for the sake of moving the plot forward he literally said “I forgot it in my other pants”…. like bro you wear the same purple pants every day.

The whole “Saiyans get stronger after fights” thing I’m pretty sure was forgotten about, whether deliberately or accidentally. I think it just became an inconvenience to write around haha.

But also - Dende being able to heal people was already a major plot issue even the first time he did it. Goku is in the healing tank, yet no one sends Dende to go heal him. I mean, it was pretty stupid (and sort of unexplained) why Dende just didn’t suggest healing Goku from the get-go other than he just didn’t know him as well.

That’s actually explained, at least in the anime.

The first time Dende heals someone (at least involving the main characters if not overall) was after Goku was already in the tank. Krillin gets the horn treatment from Frieza and gets tossed aside, assumedly dead. When he reappears fully healed, Vegeta questions him and he explains Dende’s healing powers. Vegeta asks why he didn’t say anything earlier, Krillin says that he wasn’t aware of it, otherwise he would have had him heal Goku.

I know that part. That only explains why KRILLIN didn’t have Goku healed. It doesn’t explain why Dende himself didn’t consider it at any point.

The real meta reason was that Toriyama didn’t come up with that ability until then. But still, they didn’t consider flying him back to Goku after finding out that information (while Frieza was tied up fighting Piccolo).

Wasn’t Dende off somewhere with the elder at that time?

A tea company here is selling Daima bottles. I can’t decide which one to buy. The orange looks nice, but Shenlong looks cooler than Goku

Dende wasn't around until after Goku was in the tank. He was flying from the Grand Elder's only after that. I don't even know if he knew Goku was there

Dende was flying from Grand Elder's to meet up with Krillin and Gohan. He runs into Krillin and they go back to Frieza's ship where Goku is getting healed. He might not have explicitly acknowledged Goku healing in the tank when he arrived, but he and (the all-knowing, all-seeing) Grand Elder had just been "watching" everything that had just happened.

I think the only thing that makes sense is that at that time, their priority was the Dragon Balls and getting it done ASAP. But again, multiple opportunities for them to make a plan after they learned of his abilities. They just didn't because they needed to see Frieza's third form lol.

  12. My favorite random thing that was completely forgotten about is when Goku shows up on Namek and puts his hand on Krillin’s head and reads his mind, like lmaooo

Lol yeah it was very random. But, I guess Korin could do the same thing and Goku far surpassed him, to the point where Korin was shocked that he could sense King Piccolo's ki from Korin Tower

Finished the Dragon ball manga. It was good! Namek arc was the most boring and drawn out imo. Android and Buu arcs were great. Buu arc in the manga is definitely superior to the anime because it trims a lot of the fat. Even Kai has sooo much filler.

Reading Super now. Its not bad. Pretty much a retelling of the anime so far (just finished the first tournament arc). Weird how they referenced Golden Freeza but never actually adapted it to manga. Was also interesting how Beerus is more chill in his initial appearance where he basically tells Goku he is impressed and will spare earth, unlike the anime where he just... Pretends to fall asleep before destroying earth. Looking forward to new stuff that went beyond the anime.
