Daima dub just hit Crunchyroll. Of course it’s just the first episode and not the three that originally premiered together. Would’ve been too optimistic to expect CR might throw us a bone for waiting however many months
This might be a hot take, but for this particular show, I think I actually prefer the Japanese cast/subbed version. Don't get me wrong, kid Goku and Gohan's English VA brings back so much nostalgia. But since DAIMA is supposed to be adults just shrunken down to child size, the Japanese version helps me connect that a little better since they don't change VAs between children and adult forms. It's a negligible difference, but Goku actually feels like "small Goku" instead of "kid Goku" lol.
Man, I am really into Daima. Watched the 3 dubbed episodes and got hooked, so of course now I'm on episode 13 of the sub haha. I love how this show kind of gives me more of a DB feel than a DBZ feel I guess. Every episode is its own mini adventure. Every episode progresses the over all story instead of taking 20 episodes for a single fight lol
I found it second hand a month ago after about a year of looking at used cassette retailers. It was only $10. I’m guessing the owner didn’t see much value in it. It didn’t come with the large book that it was originally housed it, so maybe that’s why.
Goku’s actually the only Japanese voice actor who doesn’t change from adult to kid in Daima, everybody else is recast
I’ll always prefer the dub version when it comes to anything dragon ball, but I’ve watched the first 17 episodes subbed. No reason to change for the last 3
Yeahh, I started watching the first 3 dubbed episodes, but by then I was hooked, so I've switched to subbed for the rest. I do prefer the dub because Goku's voice is so iconic and gives me flashbacks to my childhood. (Even though Krillin's new child voice is horrible)
Is this for dub or sub? I didn’t start the dub yet but I will now if that’s what y’all are referring to.
My predictions for next episode Glorio wished for them to be adults. Adult SS4 Goku and adult SS3 Vegeta
Haven’t watched Daima yet, but all the spoilers show up in my feed, so whatever. At this point, I’m waiting to binge all at once. I searched for this thread as I did a rewatch of DBZ Trunks saga through the end last fall. I then took a couple months to watch Super for the first time. I recently watch the OG DB for the first time and went into rewatching DBZ from the beginning and I’m currently on s2 where Frieza is in his third form and Gohan flips out on him. I wanted to see if this thread existed because when Frieza stabs Krillin, I’d forgotten he bounces him around and is like “ride’m cowboy” or whatever. Man Frieza is a sick fuck. edit: I’m in s3. Not 2. Oops.
That reminds me that I started a rewatch months ago and watched up to the Cell Games. Then got distracted. I should finish that off Tbh I really love the Buu Saga. Probably my favorite. I think that's kind of a hot take?? The only downside is what they did to Gohan's character. I do like Videl, though.
That’s so funny! I started a rewatch years ago and got to right as the actual cell games started. Life just kept happening and I didn’t go back. My favorite DBZ is Trunks through Cell Games, so I went back to Trunks Saga to pick it back up. I’m not super into what the fandom thinks, but I do feel like the Buu saga would be seen as the weakest, outside of the Saiyan saga maybe? I really don’t know what the hot take would be. Buu Saga did Gohan dirty, so I do see it as lesser. But it gave us the last party really of Vegeta’s arc. After he sacrifices himself and comes back, he’s such a satisfying character the rest of DBZ. And his hug with Trunks… just so good. He finally puts his demons to rest and is fighting for more than himself. It’s so weird watching the Saiyan saga making what’s coming, although like 200 episodes later or whatever haha. While Vegeta doesn’t really have an arc in Super (although he does recognize his path is not the same as Goke by the end), I loved him flipping out to defend Bulma from Beerus and how he treats Future Trunks that whole season with their dynamic. Vegeta is an all time great character to me.
Dude I forgot the Garlic Jr saga even EXISTED holy shit haha. When was that anyways in the timeline of DBZ??
