The World Tournament and Babidi sagas are not too bad. Majin Vegeta is fun and it’s great to get more of the slice of life and martial arts material.
The Buu saga is genuinely not good and it feels like Toriyama had no idea what to do most of the time. Spending like 20 episodes on Gohan waiting around to get a buff (not even him training! just waiting on Old Kai to make him powerful) just to have him lose due to Buu’s absorption ability is really annoying. Then Goku and Vegeta, who up to that point had stressed the whole “we’re done now, it’s up to the next generation” point, are once again the main characters and all focus shifts to them The only really emotionally resonant point is Vegeta accepting that Goku is the better fighter
“Kid” Buu was basically a feral animal controlled by Bibidi. Then he absorbed Grand Supreme Kai and became the fat child-like Buu. Then when he was re-awakened, Mr. Satan and the puppy made an emotional connection with him, and it eventually caused him to have a kind of breakdown and the “Evil” grey part of him split from the main part. Intelligence-wise, evil Buu was kinda caveman-like — could speak in broken grammar, and only wanted to fight fun opponents similar to Cell, not destroy for the sake of it Evil Buu absorbed fat Buu and gained his power while suppressing the personality. Then he absorbed the Saiyans/Piccolo and gained greater intelligence. Then Goku and Vegeta separated all of them, which caused him to revert back to Kid Buu who, without Bibidi controlling him, didn’t care about fighting fun opponents and just wanted to destroy every planet he came across (Goku and Vegeta took personal offense to this)
Good Buu (might have been called Mr. Buu?) was always one of my favorites growing up. Buu leaving so early (although Majuub is cool) was one of the big reasons I didn’t care for GT.
Except it kind of is. Pun actually works on two levels. Gohan’s name is Japanese for Cooked Rice. Pan is Spanish for Bread. But Pan, the Greek God of Nature, also influenced the modern depiction of Satan with his horns and hooves.
Just finished the main story of Kakarot and started the first DLC. I think this is one of the best games of the franchise. It’s incredibly dense with Dragon Ball lore. Only have about half of the Dragon Ball memories. Will probably have to YouTube the rest.
The new anime series was announced. It’s called Dragonball Daima and every character is turned into a kid. Comes out Fall 2024.
thats an.... interesting choice. Cant wait to see baby Vegeta in action. Im excited that they announced the extended cut of Battle of Gods though since Ive never seen the original version. Hope it hits a streaming service at some point.
I’m assuming this is the sequel to dragon ball super, so will the super manga end? And Daima will get a manga adaption?
