There are rumors that the Super manga will continue past the tournament. Also, which would be considered canon, manga or anime? The anime was first but Toriyama is involved more with the manga.
the anime, i actually thought Toriyama had nearly nothing to do with the manga other than being a consultant when needed. so far the manga hasn't really invalidated anything in the show and vice versa, which is nice
Toriyama works one on one with Toryama with the manga but only gives basic outlines to the anime. Toei animations fills in the gaps.
I know the movie will deal with this some, but like I said, they have the four best universes to explore, many years until End of Z to fill, a planet full of Saiyans which Vegeta wants to visit, etc. They have set up so much content to explore that I would hope it's not manga-only. Japan is just so weird about how they run their shows that I really just don't have a guess what they will actually do.
I believe the upcoming movie is actually an origin story of the Saiyans, so it will likely predate the entire series and not include the characters we know.
i'd be down as a clown for this. the world is too big for there to be so few side stories/expanded universe stuff
Nice, I thought there was a lot of speculation that it would tie in with the U6 Saiyan planet. Seems like a logical place for them to take the story next but who knows. I know it's Saiyan-focused, but I feel like they've already given us all of the origin stuff one way or another.
It still can tie in with that planet! Sort of... The story given in Dragon Ball Super is that the Saiyans of Universe 7 originally lived on Planet Sadala before relocating to Planet Vegeta. Vegeta was amazed when he met Cabba from Universe 6 because Planet Sadala still exists in their universe. So it's possible that this new movie will be early enough in the storyline to be based on the original Planet Sadala of Universe 7.
Future Trunks just showed up in the Dub for the first time and I got chills. Haven't watched the Sub (though I know most of the plot).
Yeah, that's sort of what I had in mind. Like, this movie will set up the story/manga going into U6 or even showing some of them at the end. Even if they continue manga-only, I think it would be weird to leave the anime that open-ended. Unless Super ends where every universe besides U7 is erased and it's as simple as that lol
Best DBZ game for sure, but how does it stack up against actual fighters? I was a uMvC3 player and Infinite was garbage, and FighterZ reaaalllly looked like it would scratch that itch. But I read in some places that it isn’t as deep as it looks. I’ve never played Guilty Gear so I don’t have much experience with the dev.
there is speculation that DBFZ will end up with more participants than SFV at EVO this year. most of the FGC guys i know are nuts about it.
FighterZ is sooo much fun but I would honestly say it's just different than a lot of other games in the genre (for better or worse). I think more so than Street Fighter, for example, is that it's easy to learn but difficult to master. Not sure how to describe it, but it's made so that beginners can essentially button mash but then the experienced players will become pros at exploiting holes in the automated combos and stringing their own combos together. Still a lot of juggling involved like other fighting games, too. I honestly didn't think it was that deep of a game when I picked it up, but then I saw how good other people were and realized I was wrong. The intricacies are more about spacial control than pulling off complicated button commands like some games.
it's deep enough - not quite at the level of say street fighter or even other arcsys games but it IS an actual fighter with at least some amount of depth. execution is simple, everything is QCF/B, there are autocombos so anyone can string together 8 hits and do things that look cool but if you're into fighters there's a lot to dig into with great mechanics and plenty of proper combos and moves to learn. it'll probably scratch that MvC itch, its brand of crazy, bombastic, frantic tag fighting is certainly closest to MvC, albeit with less variety in character choice and style. there will certainly be a large pro scene for it for the foreseeable future, although time will tell if it'll just be the flavor of the week or if it'll actually last.
FighterZ is really good. I tried it on Xbox One but I'm holding out on buying it for the inevitable Switch version (with hopefully all the DLC)
wow, what an episode. gotta be a top 3 Super ep. but i fucking hate Jiren. what a generic backstory to solidify a white bread character. even just visually, some of the most lifeless character design in any of the series
also, did anyone else feel that it was implied that’s Jiren’s villain is Black/Zamasu? visually, it was exactly the same representation as before their reveal.
also, fun fact: Vegeta’s “royal blue” is the first time he has ever achieved a form on screen unless you count GT.
