I am really enjoying the tournament. Bummed that there was no semi-acknowledgment to Broly from anyone when Kale went berserk. I know he is not canon but idc because I like fun and Goku or Vegeta saying it brings back bad memories or something would've been v fun.

 

Opposite for me actually. I was so relieved when Broly wasn't mentioned. Would have been like the Garlic Jr. saga in the anime--references to the Dead Zone movie that cannot possibly exist within the storyline.

 

The series is so loaded with plotholes and retcons even without the movies in play that's it's all the same to me. If they were to reference Broly, they'd also likely stick to the fact that he is super dead, so it would just be a bone to throw to fans more than an indication of the future

 

#17 was so goddamn great this last ep, I hope he sticks around in some capacity because he operates so differently than the main cast.

 

I was really hoping this arc would be more like that. The other universes fight somewhat evenly but then our crew goes around and gets down to business.

Instead we get more of Goku's nonsense and pretending to be evenly matched with every person he meets. Showing those girls transforming, interrupting them, then letting them do the entire thing over again is one of the most DBZ things they could have done.

 

I'm two episodes behind right now! Going to try to catch up tonight.

 

I definitely think Goku is gonna eat it against Jiren. In a perfect world, the final two for U7 are Vegeta and Frieza. I definitely don't see Goku making it to the end, even though the past 600 episodes of Dragon Ball indicate otherwise lol

 

I like this idea a lot.

 

I just hope Goku doesn't make it until the end. The whole tournament is his fault and he's been a bonafide idiot the whole time, I think the story calls for him to face some consequences for his actions.

Also, it's about damn time Vegeta premiers a form. He is so much more focused on "surpassing" Goku and co but has never been the first one to achieve Super Saiyan X or debut a Kaioken-esque manipulation technique. If they're gonna keep laying on new forms or tweaks, and we know they will, at least let Vegeta raise the bar for once.

 

Although I like the sound of all of that a lot, I feel like Gohan has to have a big part in the ending of this whole arc. He's definitely been hyped up this time around and he's purposely been put on the shelf since the tournament kicked off.

I feel like 17 is going to go pretty soon since he's gotten so much screen time. Roshi and Tien (and unfortunately, Piccolo) will probably only get a couple of shining moments before they go, as well.

Honestly, I would just like to see anyone but Goku have a hand in winning the tournament. He's been beyond frustrating.

 

Gohan will get to shone big time but I think his reluctance to get down and dirty will bite him in the ass again. I could see Frost being the one who does him in.

 

I definitely would put my money on Gohan being the last member of U7

I get Gohan's strategy of having everyone hang back for a while, but I really wish this thing looked more like one of those old school DBZ free-for-all battles. There's a whole lot of standing around going on.

 

Yeah, biggest offense being Frieza would be trying to wreck everyone I feel

 

Unless he's saving his energy to off Goku and Vegeta or something like that, but yeah, he seemed to get a huge kick out of killing those assassins before the tourney. It's very weird.

I've also been confused as to why everyone is still targeting Goku even when it's been said repeatedly that Goku prompting this tournament actually gave the other universes a fighting chance. Even the Pride Troopers still hate him lol

A photo of Goku's new form has now leaked online.

 

Nice to see Goku using the old "red to blue" technique from the manga in this last episode (even though that was Vegetas trick).

So U6 definitely has a Namekian or two right? You could see it on the small photos of the participants but they haven't appeared in person yet.

 

New Android exclusive to FighterZ

 

The roster is going to be limited and an exclusive character not from the manga or anime is lame.

Edit: Toriyama created the Android and has named her Android #21. If she comes into the manga or show down the line then I guess it's alright, but if not then I don't see why they did that.

 

I'm pretty sure 21 isn't a playable character. I think she's just part off story mode.

 

I just finished the Dragon Ball manga and got the DBZ manga box set and it starts off so well, especially following on from the end of Dragon Ball.

 

Yup! There never was a “Dragon Ball Z” manga in Japan. The series is meant to follow continually as just “Dragon Ball.”

 

Yeah, and it makes so much more sense that way, ha. It's really weird to me that they changed it everywhere else but I also think it was a really good decision from a marketing standpoint in hindsight.
