Final Totals: Shelf Life - 3 Evaporate - 9 ----------------- That does it for the Artificial Selection bracket! I'll be posting the next round soon.
This round will be a "catch all" round consisting of any other songs not covered up to this point. Originally I had planned on doing this round after the Afterburner round but that doesn't come out for a couple days so here we are. Here are the only songs that are a part of this round: Pussy Vultures Summertime Gladness Head Hunter Blood Wolf People You Knew and Perfect were both covered in the Downtown Battle Mountain II bracket and I had not planned on including covers or unreleased demos. Here we go... ------------------------ Round One: 1) Pussy Vultures vs. Blood Wolf 2) Head Hunter vs. Summertime Gladness
Blood Wolf Head Hunter not a huge Pussy Vultures fan, but Summertime Gladness is amazing, but I think Head Hunter is even better.
I planned on it, but I didn't really schedule this out as well as I could have... My thinking now is to start the Afterburner round after this current round is over and to keep each round open for a few days to give people a chance to hear the album. In hindsight I probably should've started the bracket a week or two later than I did
No worries, that's a lot of work on your part. Thanks for all you've done here, it's really motivated me to give the back catalog a good listen before Afterburner.
P Vultures - I really appreciate that it's a serious Jon moment, with Tilian playing back fiddle. Head Hunter - unlocked their discography. Up until this song I had never been able to get into the band, outside of a few songs here and there.
Pussy Vultures - Easy win for me. Summertime Gladness - This is a hard round but Summertime wins. That ending is just too good. Head Hunter is a great song too though.
Pussy Vulture - Honestly, this song has a special place in my heart. I remember blasting it while driving up the Northern California coast and thinking about my first ever break up when I was a teenager. That bit where Jon goes "Until I can't crave it at all, until I can't forget it existed" is so cathartic. Summertime Gladness - I must've listened to this nearly 400 times. This is just a perfect song. Catchy, weird and groovy in all the right ways.
Pussy Vultures and Blood Wolf are both solid songs that I enjoy, but I'll give Blood Wolf the slight edge here. I was hoping someone else would make the decision for me! Final Totals: Pussy Vultures - 7 Blood Wolf - 7 (8) Head Hunter - 5 Summertime Gladness - 9 ---------------- Final Round: Blood Wolf vs. Summertime Gladness
