One of the first PODKasts I ever listened to was the “Chocolate Starfish” one because I thought it was a bad album and just figured they’d say the same thing. They hailed Fred Durst as a genius and that’s when I knew our opinions might differ with some things.
Re: The PODkast - I find myself disagreeing with John’s musical opinions more than Bryan’s. Both have insane opinions at times. I may never tire of Murder Bryan lore, though. I love to see him come on a massive show like Doughboys and be fully himself and it probably freaks people out.
Amelia is totally Guys material. She was laughing the hardest at all the grossest stuff Bryan said. They’d probably make her do Poop Guys or something.
John does have some crazy takes and I think has sounded more tired since he started doing the Jeopardy podcast, which means Bryan really takes over and sometimes that’s a bit much. But then they find an album like Uncle Kracker that they both lock onto with their hatred of it and it’s a great time.
This out of context makes them seem more high on Fred than is technically true, lol. They sincerely love Limp Bizkit and have some fun perspective on what does and doesn’t work about the band, while also clowning on Fred the exact level that’s appropriate. I find their blend of critique, sincere love, and playfulness so refreshing and fun. I sometimes have the temptation to make a comic podcast (because the world doesn’t have enough of them!), and if I ever give in, I’ll approach Rob Liefeld and Todd McFarlane the way they approach Limp and Korn, etc.
I guess a vocal fan of The Bride! and Madame Web loving Murder Bryan’s nu metal podcast should surprise no one.
This is all true and had me re-evaluate my love of nu-metal after years of it being the butt of all jokes. Really, they were both ahead of the curve with the whole genre being reclaimed and making a comeback. Now kids are doing TikTok dances to Korn and Deftones are huge. It’s wild.
Also, I don’t know if you subscribe to the Patreon, but knowing that you grew up or were affiliated with the church, the Toby Mac bonus episode is one of the best of the whole show. I still think of him calling coffee a “hot cup of bean.”
Holy shit, lol. I’m a free loader with all my pods, but there’s a few I’ve considered becoming a patron of. And, I need to hear Bryan talk about TobyMac, so this is gonna have to be my first.
You can sub to the Patreon for just a month or two and binge the entire back catalog. I can't afford to constantly stay subbed to all the shows I'd like to, but I rotate a few by doing this.
Wiger in Japan for today's get played, and interviewing Jack Black and Chris Pratt and the rest of the Mario cast
They do a good job and the actors are mostly game for their dumb questions. Charlie Day’s answer to what he ate on the plane over is so funny. I was hoping Wiges would ask if Pratt remembers him from his doughboys appearance but he didn’t bring it up.
I think Get Played sometimes struggles with things to talk about but the three hosts are just so charming and fun that it doesn't bother me so much. Glad they got the opportunity to do all this.
All the interviews will be on their YouTube page tomorrow. Wiger asking Anya Taylor Joy if she would rather be stuck in a pipe or stuck up a flagpole made me spit take.
