Mashed potatoes are so overrated it’s not even funny.

 

You could swap mashed and au gratin and it’d be a better list

 

I've been saying this recently and people get so mad.

 

I never crave mashed potatoes. At best they’re fine. I’ve never been like holy shit these mashed potatoes are unreal. It’s frigging baby food.

 

Will not stand for this mashed slander. Apparently y’all have never had fancied up mashed potatoes before.

 

I think they're fine to good. I think people just overinflate how good they are.

Home Fries can go screw though. D tier.

 

Well made home fries rule but most diners have shitty ones. I really only like the ones I make.

 

Good mashed potatoes can be fucking great, but like most potato preparations, there can be a lot of inconsistency in quality

Home fries are good, especially with peppers and onions.

 

I am in disbelief that Mitch didn't love Prey but "kind of loved" Predator Badlands, a film that feels like it was designed in a lab to make him mad lol

The way you all feel about mashed potatoes is how I feel about baked potatoes. 90% of the time they suck.

 

Baked > mashed every time, imo

 

I'm normally quiet around here, but I will not stand idly by while you philistines debase mashed potatoes like this. It is without doubt the second-best preparation of a potato after fries.

 

I feel bad that they've probably never eaten good mashed potatoes

Well yeah we're not insane.

 

There was a time in my life that mashed potatoes were my favorite food and then I turned 12 and was like yeah these are solid but not amazinggg. I still make the instant ones in a pinch. I recently got back into making baked potatoes, put a little salt and avocado oil on the outside so they get really crispy and you can eat the skins.

Homefries > Hashbrown all the fucking time though, especially with peppers and onions. Hashbrowns are bottom tier potatoes for me. Still good though.

 

I wouldn't put hashbrowns as bottom tier but I order home fries over them 8 times out of 10.

 

I made my post about mashed being second best to only fries before I listened to the episode and found the Doughboys felt the same way. VINDICATION

 

Yeah mashed rock. I haven't listened to the ep yet but if we're separating fries then I'd move Steak up a tier. Boiled above au gratin and curly fries is insane.

 

Oh I also think a hashbrown is A tier minimum
