Okay, I finished my MI watch-through and here's my very chaotic ranking: MI3 Fallout Mission Impossible Rogue Nation MI2 Ghost Protocol Dead Reckoning it's really tough because there isn't really a hard drop-off in quality anywhere. Like, Dead Reckoning absolutely has the best action next to Fallout (maybe even better?), but I kind of think THE ENTITY and Gabriel are wack villains. I also feel like my enjoyment of these movies almost directly correlates with the villains (not unlike the Scream movies), which is why MI3, Fallout, and Rogue Nation are all higher than, say, Ghost Protocol, which really lacks in an antagonist but undoubtedly beats out MI3 in terms of action. I do think I have a softer spot for the first three feeling like unique, singular visions whereas the last several feel more like a string of (awesome) set pieces lacking some of that identity from film to film, but at the end of the day, they're all like a 6.5-7/10+, so I'm just really glad I finally watched them. Also stoked to catch at least one of them in theaters now.
Great interview. I might genuinely tear up when this show ends (or when I see them cover McDonald's proper).
Love that interview. I am genuinely so happy and proud of Mitch and Wiger. 10 years is such an amazing accomplishment, because it's not only the hours recording, but also the time and energy to eat the food and money to be spent to do your job. I started listening when I got laid off from a job I really liked at the start of the pandemic and began working a mind-numbing office job in October 2020. I decided to start a podcast that I always heard about from the first episode and it made me days so much better. I've been a fervent fan ever since and see them whenever they're in Chicago. Thank you to the 'boys, DB staff, and guests for the years of laughs and memories!
Listening to last week's episode and went searching for Mitch's secret message board. I can't believe Chorus has a Doughboys thread with 475 pages and then that it got referenced on the pod lol.
I found out about Doughboys through this thread very early on. I think I was only listening to “Comedy Bang Bang” at the time. Gave the “Chuck E. Cheese” ep with Erin McGathy a listen and was hooked. The voluminous wet dream story got me. Truly one of the great.
