Yeah it’s snowing and cold as hell but I’ve run into like 5 other people it’s pretty chill and depressing
This episode is unhinged which is to be expected since Gabrus is playing a character named Uncle Donny Pecker. So good.
The first 15 minutes is the hardest I've laughed in a while. This episode is unhinged in the best way
I'm willing to take flak for this but I actually agree with them. AI art is detestable. I'm not mad at the boys for using it for a quick, incredibly dumb joke but I also think it's horrific in every way and should never be used. I see Mitch commented on it. He's a good man "Apologies about the AI art everyone. It was a last minute decision with a quick turnaround. It was supposed to be a throwaway joke that there was a website you could actually visit. Not making excuses, we shouldn’t have used it. AI is horrible for the entertainment industry in every way and I think even in smaller instances it’s still unacceptable. Anyway. We will rectify the situation. And I hope it doesn’t sour your enjoyment of the episode!"
I think the point of the joke was how bad it is. I don't consider it advertising, and it's disingenuous to say someone lost out on a job because of this like the points people are making on Instagram. Should they have known it would lead to backlash? Probably. Does it change my opinion on who they are as people? No.
AI steals other peoples work and repurposes it. By using AI art you are ripping other artists off. It's very mechanism is theft. It's fair to call Doughboys fans dorks for many many reasons but pointing out that using AI is whack isn't one of them. I think Mitch's response is great and I don't think they need to fix or redo the dumb fake website made for a dumb fake joke, just acknowledging it's bad and not using it again is cool.
I disagree, I think showing that AI is bad is funny and doesn’t take away jobs from anyone. I think we all agree it sucks, and I don’t think the Doughboys are ripping anyone off by using very ugly images as a joke
Is this 100% true though? Not disagreeing, I legitimately don't know how it all works, but are all AI image generated from other peoples works? If I search for an AI generated image of a chain restaurant, is it compiling it from other artists' copywritten work, or from stock/public domain images of various Applebee's, or a combination of both?
if you google the issue you’ll find tons of articles how it works and who it’s ripping off, including this one from the New Yorker Is A.I. Art Stealing from Artists? AI is harmful to artists, full stop. Supporting its use is harmful. We don’t need to argue it anymore as Mitch already agreed it was a bad choice. I’m sure the episode rules and I’m excited to listen in a couple hours.
