I feel the line for a sub guy would take up your whole lunch break. we could get chicken sandwhiches every day. If I didn’t like the main, I would get a chicken sandwhich, fries, salad, whatever side came with the main, chocolate milk and iced tea for like $2.50.
my friend got a chicken sandwich with extra mayo every single day. no veggies, nothing else on it. every single day without exception. insane
There were no options for veggies on the chicken sandwiches at our school, just bun and patty and you could get mayo, bbq, and/or ketchup packets to put on them.
Was only in LA for a few days, but Howlin Ray’s was the best meal we had. Really loved up to the hype.
yeah you could get a chicken sandwich every day but it was just chicken and bun but we did have a spicy chicken sandwich which was legit.
It was pretty insane how much we were taught about having fruits and vegetables everyday and our high school cafeteria offered none of that.
Trying to imagine my podunk Ohio school lunches coming with a vegetable that wasn't iceberg lettuce or carrots is spinning me out. They fed us salad kit leavings haha.
I think the only vegetable we ever had were canned green beans. And you could maybe get a gross ass banana? Like the nasty looking ones that gas stations sell that I always wonder who buys them.
in terms of vegetables i remember eating canned corn and canned green beans. maybe shredded lettuce? our lunches were gross
every once in a while they’d get pizza from some local places and then my senior year they started getting chik fil a once a month.
I think I can count the number of times I went into the cafeteria in high school and middle school on one hand. It was a weird foreign land.
We never got outside food other than pizza day, which I believe was dominos. But you got one tiny slice, so I always went chicken sandwhich that day. We also had sugary drinks in our vending machines and I was in high school well after Clinton so I’m not sure what the boys were talking about
That sounds like one of those fake high schools you see in the movies where kids are just always outside having lunch or something, not in a drab, dim room having subsidized food.
yeah we had sugary drinks and then a student store that was open before and after school that my friends and I would sneak into and just steal shit all the time
In middle school there was a window on the outside of the cafeteria where you could get your items I mentioned earlier, in High School there was a separate snack line that went into a little room to get that kind of stuff. Mind you, in California school aren’t enclosed, everything is outside, so you just eat outside, in middle school there were gazebos with picnic tables and in high school we usually just ate standing up under a tree, but there were tables picnic tables available too.
