Anyway yeah if you're looking to get into the Simpsons 3/4 is where the show starts to build momentum. You should be able to figure out the characters/quirks pretty early on and much of the first two seasons is typical sappy sitcom tropes, tbh. There's enough in there to make them worth watching, but you can easily start at 3/4 and get an idea of what's going on.

Depends. I enjoyed the episodes/continued watching til about 12 or so. Not "bad", exactly just a completely different tone than the earlier episodes. Most people say that the tone starts to shift around season 9, but there's still some great episodes in that season.

 

I'm the opposite. I always get chicken over anything else

 

Just start from the beginning, there are some early episodes that really set the characters, and some brilliant stuff in season 2. Seasons 3-8 are perfect television, then 9-11 is solid with misses and I think I stopped somewhere in 13 or 14.

 

I'll probably do this. I don't see any reason to skip the first 2 seasons if I'm gonna commit to another 8+ after that. Who knows, maybe I'll just keep going to the end.

Really, I never have time to even keep up with the current shows I watch, but I feel like The Simpsons is a glaring omission in my comedy watching.

I have also never watched The Simpsons and was planning to watch soon, so this is very helpful!

 

Replaying the double, the early burns are so good, Wigers about Mitch's bank alert is just perfect.

I guess if there were only like 3-4 standout seasons out of the 28 or whatever, then maybe I'd just watch those but when the majority of the series is said to be good to great, I feel like I might as well start at the beginning and just stop early if I get burnt out.

 

this discussion got me to look into the streaming options... looks like you can watch all the Simpsons eps using FXNOW.

I'll be joining you guys in a Simpsons marathon, then. I've seen a lot of episodes, but there's a ton I've missed
