Glad I stuck it out to see Mitch’s foot

 

I don’t not like her, but she’s one of those guests that could afford to be, like, 20 percent less engaged. It feels like she’s afraid of a millisecond of silence.

 

I like Arden but the complaints aren’t totally wrong. I could also do with a little less of the boys getting upset over hypothetical complaints from nonexistent fans

Nah them complaining is funny. Grow up.

 

And they are definitely real complaints. I was a member of the doughboys Facebook page thing long enough to know.

 

I bailed on that Facebook page (and Facebook in general) so quick because it was a kingdom of the absolute dorks so I believe that. But the reddit (which I rarely ever look at) is like overwhelmingly positive (if not also a kingdom of dorks).

podcast fans in general are the worst. People listen to someone talk “to them” for hours a week they start to act like they’re friends. I get being annoyed by that. But even wasting time talking about like .03% of their listeners is dumb.

 

People that try to be "in on the joke" with someone they've never met (or met once at a meet and greet) is the reason I could never join the Doughscord

 

Yeah I was in that Facebook group for a few months and then bailed and it was the best decision.

 

The Doughscord was better because NIck and Mitch actually participate in it so people are less likely to be creepy douchebags. Haven't used it since I stopped paying the Patreon so I'm not sure if it is still that way.

 

Being a part of any online community is extremely cringey, suspect behavior.

I think the casual nature of podcasts makes the parasocial aspect of it worse than other media. I saw Armchair Expert live. We were way in the back and this lady was like, talking and responding to everything they said way up on the stage. It was frustrating and annoying.

 

I’m part of the Doughboys and CBB Facebook pages. For the most part, both are fine. I think they mostly lose their mind when debating stuff like Bugmane or Susser. The more parasocial stuff gets nerfed pretty quick and it’s mostly food and drink talk, which I’m into.
