I grew up in an area that only had Subway and one local sub places. The hate for it seems like an exaggeration.
I've never even heard of it, and google street view of the closest one to me is very clearly a totally abandoned building
this is the worst take ever. What the hell do you get from subway that it is your FAVORITE restaurant??????
Subs bb. Mostly chicken or turkey, all the vegetables, no cheese, either Buffalo/siracha/sweet onion/southwest sauce. It’s cheap, it’s EVERYWHERE, it’s good.
I guess if you like loading up on a bunch of veggies, Subway's not a bad a option. But personally, I'm not really interested in having bell peppers and olives and cucumbers and shit on my sub. And all the other ingredients (lettuce, tomato, onions, meats, cheeses, breads) are significanly better at almost every other sub shop.
Look, Subway isn’t THE BEST, but it’s the most dependable, affordable and consistent. Some sub places have better individual sandwiches, but they’re usually more expensive, smaller and harder to order. My local Jersey Mikes is a fucking battle every time I order, to the point that I avoid going there. I gotta sleep now, but I’ll defend Subway forever. (But not Jared)
But you also spent the time making it. I could hit one of the multiple subways on my way home from work, assemble dinner in 2 minutes and be on my way.
also, how is Jersey Mike's harder to order at than Subway? At JM's I can say, give me a #13 Mike's Way and they will give me exactly what I want every time. At Subway I have to tell the dude every ingredient one by one and then be like, can I get a little more of that over and over again.
I can make a sub in 5 minutes at home that’s 1000x better and 100x cheaper. I can buy the ingredients for 6 subs at home for the price of 1 subway sub and again it’s 1000x better.
I think of Subway the same way I think of Dominos and Taco Bell. They’re technically subs/pizza/Mexican food, but they’re distinct and separate cravings
