Mayo is the best thing to spread on the outside of the bread before you grill it

It sounds weird, but I promise that using mayo on the outside of your grilled cheese when toasting it makes it better. And I guarantee that lots of restaurants employ that method.

it doesn’t take a lot of mayo, slight spread will do it.

  14. You wouldn't spread mayo on toast. You wouldn't baste a steak with mayo. I'm not putting that shit on my grilled cheese

If you try it, your mind will be changed and then you won't agree anymore. So there's that incentive.

Mayo is hands down the best thing to use on a grilled cheese. I was skeptical at first because I didn't learn it until later in life, but if you're not using that method you don't think highly enough of yourself. You can't taste it and there's no residual left over when you're done so what's the hang up?

If you’ve eaten a grilled cheese made by a chef it was covered in mayo

It's understood that no one is saying slap a bunch of mayo on the inside of your grilled cheese, right?

Like instead of butter, just spread a thin layer of mayo on the outside before grilling. It comes out the most perfectly delicious golden brown and grills way more evenly than butter.
