I didn't think it was bad, just kinda forgettable. Good creature design, the daughter stuff was pretty nice, the writing was pretty weak. Needs more Cowan

Anyway this is a Christmas movie so it's going on my letterboxd list for that kind of thing

 

Oh and I guess that stuff about Cowan being a GameStop employee was in the cut scenes? I wanted to see that!

 

It would have been nice to know anything about these characters besides that Pratt is a sadboy who loves the military and hates his father.

 

Yeah I kept waiting for that to come up. It was either cut or that was just something that was part of his backstory in Mitch's head as he was working out the character lmao.

 

I thought he said the producers wrote a whole backstory for him

Possibly: Cowan is a doofus who likes a shitty company
More possibly: Pratt is a fan and wanted them featured in the movie

So the message behind this movie seems to be that we should be giving more money to the army to combat climate change. Sounds good.

 

yeah the whole time I was watching this I was like "man with some revisions this movie could've been a solid allegory for the climate crisis" lol

maybe in some earlier draft it was

 

Mitch got the biggest laugh out of me with the Norah line

 

Yeah same. But most of the "jokes" in the movie fell pretty flat

If Pratt is your lead he should be making jokes, that's what he does

 

The humor was very “Well....that happened.”

The original character was an ex military hyper bro asshole, parts of the wardrobe (like that) stuck when Mitch took over

it's really dope that the future has guns with endess clips that never need reloaded

 

Honestly he was in the movie more than I was expecting based on thread. Heavily featured... for fifteen minutes. Movie was...okay? Will absolutely never watch again but didn’t mind it

 

I want a sequel where Mitch and Mary survived and it’s a Last of Us scenario as they walk across a destroyed country evading aliens. And at the end she has to shoot him in the back of the head as he pets Wolly and Irma, Lennie style
