it’s bad but the creature effects aren’t terrible at least. and mitch has a cool shot that’s all him and the norah joke is funny. sam has a handful of chucklers. but yeah didn’t love pratt and the emotional core of the story is pretty hollow

 

My only question is, if Cowan was the "bigger" role he was bumped up into, how small was his previous role? lol

 

The creature effects and designs are great. I even like the premise. It’s too bad the script lets the movie down so hard. JK Simmons basically being Red Forman is such a waste of a good actor.

 

Yeah the concept is a good one. You have to wonder if this was one of those situations where somebody had a cool original idea for the screenplay and then over the years it was distorted by studio notes and uncredited re-writes into what we actually saw on the screen. It certainly feels like one of those movies, even if that wasn't actually the case.

 

There’s a good amount of him cut out. One funny bit I was sad to see go

 

Yeah it definitely sounds like there was just based on the comments he's made in the episodes this month. He's alluded to cut footage more than once, even outside of doing the "Cowan Cut" bit.

 

better than i expected but still very bad with a glaring lack of Slice. sam was fun though.

Yeah I’m not gona finish this. Doesn’t help that the sound mixing is all over the place, sick of cranking the volume to hear dialogue and then getting my ears blown off

 

I also love that:

- They make the recruiting announcement during an American soccer game, not like something that would be watched by the most people like a football or basketball game.

- Even though they need people of all ages and types, the group never runs across any foreign soldiers or really, anyone else in general while they're out fighting.

 

I need the Cowan prequel.

 

I'm kind of dreading it now, but I plan on watching it (in full) tonight.

 

I guess different countries were sending their soldiers to different parts of the world in the future? They were at an American time travel site, so it makes sense they were only encountering Americans there.

Also that was the World Cup they were watching, wasn't it? My biggest question was: isn't the World Cup played in the summer? Why was the World Cup happening at Christmas time? lol (I admittedly know almost nothing about soccer so I could be totally off-base here).

ah gotcha, that makes sense then considering the opening scene of the movie was taking place in 2022. They were playing in Qatar in the movie.

 

Okay. That does make sense. My mind must have wandered when they were explaining that, as one does during this kind of movie.

 

That's really just my own assumption though, given that the movie says there were jump sites all over the world in the present day. The movie doesn't really explain what's happening anywhere other than Miami in the future time lol

 

but, yeah, the world cup is like thee most watched sporting event in the world and it looked like it might have been brazil, who is one of the most popular teams

 

i thought i saw gabriel jesus on the tv and then when the game became an actual scene it just looked like extras lol

i think i thought watching stoned last night it was maybe brazil v japan or something

 

legitimately thought the same lol

 

yeah I thought it was actually pretty clever on the script's part to have them send people back in time to disrupt the World Cup

 

Damn can't believe this movie is only 55 minutes. What a sad ending!
