I think that group as a whole kinda forms a shared opinion and Mitch especially feels beholden to it. Case in point, Mitch still talks shit about the NOES reboot because of how big of an emphasis they put on the ridiculous concept of micronaps. I just watched it and that's barely even mentioned. When Rust was discussing it on his show he was talking about how much he and his friends shit on the movie because of that and how surprised he was that it's hardly even discussed and that he actually really liked the movie upon rewatch.
he says something about knowing he’ll get killed for liking this too much so he’ll be fair and criticize it too and comes with “why was superman’s grave on a farm” lol
People getting into their feelings about bad movies is a delight whenever the boys do one of these. It already has happened here lol If people aren't 100% into marvel and star wars then they cry when someone enjoys another franchise. #MitchisRight
I like some Star Wars and some marvel but Mitch is just so contrarian with his movie opinions it doesn’t seem genuine sometimes.
I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of his opinions I just disagree with so many of them very strongly lol
This is...not what's happening here lol. Genuinely don't care if they like The Snyder Cut, I just think it's baffling. I don't even like Marvel movies, I typically prefer DC films for taking bigger swings (for better or for worse). There's just no world or universe where this is a better film than The Last Jedi lol
Mitch is also a ~movie star~ now, I don’t think he wants to bash a lot of current things. Imagine if he got a role in a Snyder movie spinoff.
I kinda like all these movies to one degree or another and I'm enjoying the ep a lot more than I would if they were just shitting on it.
Mitch’s description of discussing the “Martha” scene with the BvS DP is very nice. But it’s also insane that he defends that scene, considering how much nitpicky he gets for so many other movies.
The most recent Star Wars trilogy and the DCEU have in common is that they’re both an absolute fucked up mess from a narrative structure standpoint on top of a world being null and void of any engaging storytelling, intriguing world building, or multi dimensional characters. As someone who prefers Star Wars and DC to Marvel, it pains me to say that Marvel are the only ones making their movies with even a modicum of competency.
Star Wars has The Last Jedi, which I think has all those things. The DCEU and Last Skywalker also share Chris Terrio as a writer, so they also have that unfortunately.
This episode is definitely a product of the lingering effects of Hollywood and their guest. I’d be surprised if they absolutely were shitting on a superhero movie when their guest writes for a cartoon about it.
I’m sure I’ve said it elsewhere on this site but the Martha scene is a really great idea. The idea that as Superman is on the brink of death Bruce realizes that Supes isn’t this all encompassing evil and that they are one in the same... it’s just executed terribly
For sure. I even felt a little second-hand shame at how excited the DP described it. But as Matty kind of explained, it just doesn’t make sense in the context of the scene.
I had previously said if they want to drop the fast food element, I would listen to them talk about anything...I’d like to amend that and never have to listen to them talk about super heroes again.
