Subway's sub bread may as well be a fucking donut with how dense and unhealthy it is, but they've got killer wraps and flatbreads
we ordered Firehouse subs for a work lunch a couple years ago and the only veggie option came dripping wet. It was gross as hell
If you are going to a sub chain, the #1 option for a real classic-style sandwich is Jersey Mike's. They're the only chain that slices the meats/cheese fresh and their quality floor is the highest of the chains. I have in the last year had Firehouse subs for the first time, and then at least one or two more times, and have enjoyed it a lot. I have only ever eaten at the Firehouse Subs location, however, never taken it to go. And like @ChaseTx said, the hot sauce selection is great. Potbelly indeed f*cks, if you don't have one near you that's sad. WaWa is also the sh*t but sadly nobody outside of PA/NJ knows it. If they don't go to WaWa for one of the Philly shows they will have royally messed up.
Another gripe about Subway is why in the hell did they stop putting mayo on the bread? It's insane that they just slop it on top of everything. Absolutely no one makes a sandwich like that. And their mustard is so pungent it overwhelms everything.
jersey mike's is the worst of the bunch. wawa is good but i can only get it when i go up to virginia.
I don’t know how they did it but one time Subway managed to get most of my mayo on the outside of my sandwich.
I wasn't even going to touch that hot take I won't go there anymore, but I actually think JJ is good and don't understand the hate (except for the politics). It might be a factor that it's a new chain out here and the franchises haven't had time to turn to shit yet..
Jersey mikes is good but st this point I have so much loyalty to Potbelly I have no reason to get it.
I've had JJ's twice and both times almost died of dehydration from the sodium. Their turkey is insanely salty, also fuck Jimmy John. Jersey Mikes Club Supreme is by far the best fast food sub around, but the calorie count is fucked so I very rarely get it. I'll concede subway is actually not at all healthy and pretty shitty but I love it and get it pretty regularly. If you like the sweet onion teriyaki (their best sub) but are on a budget, get the oven roasted chicken and put sweet onion sauce on it. Tastes the same and saves a dollar or so.
