If peanut butter cups are candy bars, then where do we draw the line? Are peppermint patties candy bars?
The issue is, if they're not candy bars, what is the alternative/equivalent term? Candy cups? No one calls anything candy cups. How many products would even fall under that term? Are Reese's enough of a staple that they don't need further categorization? They're just Reese's Cups, and that's enough, everyone understands? The issue comes when you try to have a conversation about candy "bars", specifically, which I think they did on the latest Doughboys. If you narrow the selection down to "bars", Reese's might not be eligible, which isn't fair because they have much more in common with traditional candy bars like Hershey's, Twix, Kit Kat, or Snickers, than just general "candy", like Hershey Kisses or Swedish Fish or Sour Patch or Starburst or whatever.
It's not a candy bar but it is convenient to lump them into that category. If you buy a Snickers, a Payday, and Reese's Cups no one is going to question you if you say "I bought three candy bars"
If you're calling a pack of Reese's cups a candy bar then you need to call a pack of Starburst a candy bar and I don't think anyone is comfortable doing that.
That's ludicrous. Starburst are individual candies. Reese's are far more similar in composition and size to candy bars.
One's candy discs the other is candy blocks, both are candy, both come in bar-shaped packages, both have individual wrappers on the candy itself. "Candy bar" isn't exclusive to chocolate. I stand by everything. My point is Reese's aren't a candy bar and neither are starburst but one can't lay claim without the other. Y'all can catch these hands

the only fruit candy, that i can think of, that could MAYBE considered a candy bar would be Airheads EDIT you beat me to it
After some intensive research I have come to the conclusion that airheads are indeed candy bars. Reese's cups are still not.
Reese's Cups aren't that good anyway. Give me a Snickers or some peanut brittle any day over those things.
